ABOUT PROTUNE

Protune was started in early 2005 by Wayne working out of his garage from home. He provided a full mechanical and tuning service to a vast range of clients.  He excelled in tuning even though he had limited room and was devoid a hoist.  Then in late 2006 Wayne and Dean teamed up to move the company further by getting a workshop in Manukau allowing them to offer their clients a more comprehensive service.

ABOUT WAYNE

Wayne is a fully qualified A grade technician with over 15 years experience in the automotive industry

He served his time at South Auckland Engine Reconditioners (trading as Auto King) where he excelled in both the mechanical workshop and engineering department.  After 5 years he then moved on to work at Tony Allan Autos where he stayed for little over 1 year before retuning to Auto King to take on the position of workshop Foreman in the automotive repair division.  After spending a further 5 years in this role Wayne moved to Seattle Washington to work for a research and development company working as an engineer / tuner / test driver.  He worked on products for both alternative fuels and performance modifications.  This is where Wayne's passion for performance tuning started to gain momentum, working along side ex GM engineers with some of the most advanced test equipment available.  The knowledge and experience he gained was invaluable and he quickly realized his future path would be utilizing this knowledge to tune vehicles back home in New Zealand.
After returning to New Zealand in early 2005 Wayne started a small tuning company from home working mainly on Holden LS1 powered vehicles, he also started working for Davie Holden Botany to gain full factory Holden training so as to have a full understanding of every facet of their vehicle range.  The small business is now employing full time an extra staff member to help keep on top of the work load.

During this time Wayne has been involved in many forms of motor sport at the highest level, with his main involvement as being a mechanic for Ross Meekings Motosport Rally Team.  He spent a 9 year period with Ross competing at every national round with the most memorable year being 1998 when they were crowned New Zealand group N champions.  Wayne moved from a simple "spanner spinner" on the team to being responsible for engine and gear box building, but most importantly engine tuning.  This is where he stared his tuning career that has seen him tune many more race and road cars over the past 8 years including, of course, his own rally cars.
During his time with Ross he was also involved in building rally cars from scratch including a Mitsubishi EVO 6 for the Ralliart NZ team that went on to have much success in the hands of Ross and other drivers such as Mark Tapper.

All of this experience accumulates him into a very versatile and well-rounded mechanic who is knowledgeable in every facet of the automotive industry.
